Greetings

Members of the Echocardiography Society, how are you? I am very pleased to say hello to you through paper. Despite its short history of the Society, I think our Echocardiography Society is one of the fastest growing world-class societies with many members. I think that the power of growth is our passion to diagnose the heart condition more accurately than the physical examination such as the stethoscope which deduces the organ of the invisible heart and to increase the effect of the treatment. I am deeply grateful for the hidden labor and dedication of the executives including the former president and directors who have worked hard until achieving the current growth and your active participation. Through the activation of the society, we have been able to achieve many achievements of the Society and are especially making a splendid achievement of announcing worldwide research results with your constant enthusiasm. Particularly, when considering the time environment of the big data and close global network, individual research is also important, but I think that research exchange based on academic societies and collaborative research through multi-institutional cooperation are also making a very significant contribution. In particular, our society has led to the improvement of the level of entire echocardiography in Korea and also established the role that echocardiography is required as an essential image examination for successful surgery and therapeutic intervention. I think that practical training programs centering on clinical sites such as regular echocardiography workshops, education for the preparation of echocardiographic certification, and Echo in clinical decision have made a significant contribution to achieving this outcome. I participated in the echocardiography workshop held at Yonsei University College of Medicine Auditorium on July 1st. I felt proud as I watched the serious discussions where members carefully select the problems that they have experienced during patient care, present problems and make comments and new knowledge and experience are harmonized. Realizing that studies are alive, I was so impressed because I felt proud that our society created a platform for sharing, empathy and growth. That is right. Our society is a society that has the expertise to promote mutual growth and a beautiful virtue to celebrate the development of each other. I am convinced that we will continue to develop our strengths to raise the level of Korean echocardiography studies and achieve world-class results in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. For this purpose, I will do my best to cheer, accompany and support you in the future. I hope that it will be an Autumn Annual Scientific Meeting where you can share fruit and enjoy your efforts when the hot summer is over and cool autumn comes.
Members, thank you again

1. 2017 Annual Spring Scientific Conference of the KSC in conjunction with KSIC, KSE, and KSLA

2017 Annual Spring Scientific Conference of the KSC in conjunction with KSIC, KSE, and KSLA was held at Gyeongju Hwabaek International Convention Center from April 21 to 22. Organized by a total of five societies including the Korean Society of Cardiology and Korean Society of Echocardiography, discussions on issues of each field, up-to-date findings, case-based educational programs, topics that have recently been controversial, and joint sessions between societies have drawn the audience's attention. Basic research lectures on arteriosclerosis and myocardial fibrosis were prepared. Particularly, sessions on myocardial fibrosis were held in a joint session with Japanese researchers and opinions were actively exchanged. With the remarkable development of recent Information and Communication Technology (ICT), KSE News is also making changes that have never before been seen in the overall field of medicine. The Korean Society of Cardiology has launched the Smart Health Study Group to not only meet these changes but also to integrate information and communication technology into medical care and research of cardiovascular diseases. This conference also prepared lectures on the application of mobile health and digital medicine research to provide new perspectives and information to the audience. This 2017 Annual Spring Scientific Conference of the KSC in conjunction with KSIC, KSE, and KSLA was an effort to provide more active exchange of knowledge and broad insights to the participants

2.The 32th Korean Society of Echocardiography Workshop

The 32th Korean Society of Echocardiography Workshop was held at Yonsei University on the first day of July. The heat of learning was added to the heat of the hot summer day, and despite the hot weather, many teachers filled the large auditorium from the start, so the atmosphere of the workshop became hot from the beginning. The workshop consisted of two sessions - Echo in Systemic Disease (Chair: Professors Namsik Chung and Wan Joo Shim) and Combat with Echo Help (Chair: professors Ho-Joong Youn and Jun Kwan) and was conducted in a manner of presenting 11 cases, which are difficult to encounter in clinical practice, at each hospital in Japan and discussing them. This workshop was a very useful time because we could see a rare case of Cardiac Plasmacytoma as well as cases of Lymphoma and NBTE, which we think are diseases that we know but which are sometimes expressed with unexpected new features. Especially in this workshop, Professor Namsik Chung who will retire in August this year, became an example to many people in the process of learning now by taking the lead and making many comments from his experiences
This workshop is characterized by interesting cases and heated discussions, so we also finish this workshop which has been a place of learning with exciting cases and heated discussions that are not contrary to our expectations and promise the next workshop.
