Greetings
I am so glad and grateful to greet members via this newsletter. It will have been almost 25 years since our academic society was launched next year. While participating in domestic symposiums of spring and autumn along with international symposiums, I came to think that our academic society was developed and globalized by witnessing passionate and creative presentations of our young and competent members. Many presentations showed not only quantitative increase but also qualitative improvement. They were also original and rational research results. As a person who started echocardiography a litter earlier, I felt proud of my juniors, but at the same time I felt bad that I couldn’t help them well. In addition to this academic development, the advantages of our society that I think are cooperation and harmony among members despite the group of various people, and respectful attitudes without hurting each other despite outspoken comments, which seem to be virtues that should be continued and great tradition that is invisible. This bond is the foundation for our academic society’s future development. It is time for our academic society to research the overall field of cardiac imaging including CT and MRI beyond echocardiography. In America and Europe, the names of academic society have contained ‘Cardiac Imaging’ since several years ago. A number of members of our academic society have studied abroad with interest in this field and performed good research. I believe more members should have interest in this field for future development. Lastly, I appreciate all members who have made efforts for development of our academic society. I express my appreciation especially to great seniors who strengthened the basis of today’s echocardiography society. We need to cooperate to make better and more firm academic society, so that each member can shine through this academic society. I wish all of you well.

KSE News
1. 2017 New Year’s Greetings of Korean Society of Echocardiography / January 9, 2017/ Millennium Seoul Hilton On January 9, when the country was unsettled due to impeachment of president Park Geunhye, Korean Society of Echocardiography New Year's greetings ceremony 2017 was held at Millennium Hilton Hotel. I hurried to finish up the work at the clinic not to be late, I took KTX, where I took a sound nap. As usual, the short nap in busy routine was really sweet. While walking to Millennium Hilton Hotel after got off the train, I thought the route from Seoul Station to the hotel was a good exercise course for those who lack exercise due to a slope. However, I had to shrink by the fierce winter wind that lowered my body temperature. The inside hotel was warm with each other’s greetings unlike the cold outside weather. I could feel people’s affection. Time flied while I said hi and to doctors who I hadn’t seen for a long time since the last autumn symposium asking their future plans. Besides, I could ask their opinions about my patients that I couldn’t figure out, so the ceremony wasn’t simply hanging out with each other, but was a good chance to gather useful information. While listening to many senior professors and talking with other doctors, I felt like time passed so quickly. I had to go to train station leaving my regret. As I always think, time flies when I hang out with good people. I wish you all well and happy.
2.The 31th Korean Society of Echocardiography Workshop/ February 25, 2017/ Auditorium at B1 of Seoul Asan Hospital Research Center
At the end of February, when fierce wind still stayed, many doctors gathered from all over the country with good cases of the echocardiography field. Due to the workshop of Korean Society of Echocardiography rare disease research society at the same hotel, many doctors arrived there early. The workshop started with the greetings of director Seung Woo Park, and the hall was full of passion of many doctors that filled the venue. The senior persons present during the first session were professor Wan joo Shim and professor Seung Woo Park, and the senior persons present during the second session were professor Jin-Won Jeong and professor, Wook-Jin Chung. Panels were two pairs of Prof. Kim and Lee(the first session : Hyungseop Kim, Ju Hee Lee/ the second session : Hyung-Kwan Kim, Sah Min Lee), who helped listeners with their witty remarks and questions. Many interesting cases were presented, and especially there were many about trauma. The causes of fistulization between atrium sinistrum and the right ventricle after trauma and tricuspid valve flowing backward are still curious. In addition, I could consider the effects and the necessity of septal myomectomy again. The cases of giant cell myocarditis were interesting. I had another curiosity when I remembered a 19 year old male patent who had really light clinical process was diagnosed with giant cell myocarditis by histopathological test. The point that we focus on the workshop is debate of experienced professors. The hotter the debate is, the more interesting and impressive, so we can learn a lot. I hope many professors continue good debates.
