President's Greetings
Greetings. Despite my many flaws, I have been elected president of the society for this upcoming term, Korean Society of Echocardiography was founded on February 15, 1993. For the following 20 years, I believe the society has been growing most dynamically in South Korea. I remember the first KSE conference at Shinyang Park Hotel on April 29, 1993, which was attended by many honorable professors and seniors of mine. From then on, we have successfully organized spring and fall conferences and training lectures every year, as well as regular workshops and echocardiography lectures at local branches, universities, and hospitals, almost as if they are in an academic competition. The growing domestic academic competitiveness soon led to international results. In just a few years after the foundation, KSE hosted the 5th World Congress of Echocardiography and Vascular Ultrasound in 2001, which, I believe, proved South Korea's competence as a center of echocardiography in the Asia-Pacific Region.
When I look at the academic passion of our honorable members of KSE, I have no doubt KSE will grow further both qualitatively and quantitatively in the future. During my term, I will do my utmost and contribute to development of the society with the help of the director Park Seung woo and directors of the organization.

Director's Greetings
I am Park Seung woo, the new director who will lead Korean Society of Echocardiography for the next two years. I feel an enormous sense of responsibility for succeeding the role and continuing development of the society. Although the society has, externally, grown to become a large organization with over 2,000 members, I feel the weight on my shoulder when looking at the reality of current echocardiography. Compared to other imaging techniques, it is developing slowly, and, also, in the newly expanded health insurance system, echocardiography is in a difficult situation due to the relatively low insurance fee and indication problem. However, with the unstinting support and passion of the members, I believe KSE can overcome these issues. First, I will make continuous effort for indication and appropriate insurance fee for echocardiography. And, as part of the continuing effort of globalizing KSE, we will reinforce cooperation with various international echocardiography associations including that in the US, Europe, Japan and AAE (Asia-Pacific Association of Echocardiography) and strive to enhance research activities within the society. Also, online education including video journals will be reinforced so that new and accurate information can be delivered fast to the members. In addition, in response to the increasing demand for echocardiography education, we will actively try to use our know-how in the field based on the certificate system to train internal medicine specialists.
