Greetings of New Vice President
The Korean Society of Echocardiography, since its foundation, has achieved qualitative and quantitative development to maintain and expand active exchanges and mutual cooperation with overseas societies in the US, Japan and Europe. At this point of time, I was appointed to the Vice President of the Society with great sense of responsibility and concerns.
Echocardiographic diagnosis has remarkably grown. Especially the development of pediatric echocardiography has affected inherent heart disease diagnosis and treatment to a large extent. Fetus echocardiographic exam has become one of the basic process. The post-operational survival rate of inherent heart disease patients increased. Echocardiographic test has become more important in the GUCH area and inherent adult heart disease area. I hope for further growth of the Korean Society of Echocardiography based on its effective mutually-complementary between the pediatric department and internal medicine department.
My deep appreciation to all of the executives and members for appointing me to this important mission of Vice President. I assure you my utmost efforts for society growth and enhanced relationship among the members during my period.

Looking back on the period of JCU Editor in Chief
I have edited the Journal of Korean Society of Echocardiography since 2008. Back then, my first job given by the then Chief Editor, Jong-won Ha, was to help globalize the society journal. Since then, the journal was recorded with the Pubmed Central, attracting global readers. In 2010, I became the Chief Editor and I started to plan for another leap forward in a broader world. Most excellent talent in the Society were scouted as edition staff. An expert scheme for system settlement and edition was organized as part of the efforts to improve paper completeness. As a result, though not fast, the JCU has grown steadily. Today, journals are required to provide globally acceptable papers in terms of both qualitatively and quantitatively for survival. In such a fast changing world, I reflect on myself if I have fallen into mannerism. I think, the most desirable development of JCU could be to create a brand new framework instead of the existing framework. To me, the JCU has been all the more special. Now I have many mixed feelings such as the expectation on our new Editor in Chief Mr. Yong-Jin Kim over his new framework and regret that maybe I could have done better for JCU growth.
I deliver my sincere gratitude to the edition members and society staff who have been through many things with me to this day.

Starting the term of JCU Editor in Chief
Dear all,
I am newly appointed as the Editor in Chief of Journal of Cardiovascular Ultrasound (JCU) with the heavy responsibility.
Starting from 1993, the Journal has achieved brilliant development for the past 23 years. A total of 23 volumes were published. In 2006, the Journal was changed to the JCU to mark a new beginning as an English journal. Then it was recognized by PubMed. The latest June issuance Vol. 23, No. 2 has 4 authentic papers including 2 from the US and Mexico. Such an expansion is part of dramatic sea change based on many people’s hard work and dedication including the former Chief Editors, edition members and many scholars who have sent their precious works. The former Chief Editor, Mr. Jong-won Ha and the edition members have accomplished an almost groundbreaking innovation of the journal in the changed name of JCU. Their successful undertaking will shine long in the history of the journal.
Now, the JCU is about to take another leap towards the goal of SCI recognition by 2020. To achieve this challenging goal, the JCU has to improve several key indications including the number of papers published and citation frequency. These will be realized only when many people gather their strengths together. I ask for your great support and interest. I assure you my best efforts to contribute to JCU further growth to usher in the Society’s brighter future as a globally renowned journal.
In closing, I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to the Chairman who does not spare any support for journal development, Chairman of Board and the executives; our Deputy Editors Seong-hwan Kim, Jang-young Kim, Eui-young Choi; and the former Editor in Chief Goo-Yeong Cho who has given every precious advise to me.

1. 2015 Kyung Hee Echocardiography for Beginners
The 2015 Kyung Hee echocardiography training program is arranged with the hope that the lecturing program will be helpful for people who study echocardiography for the first time. The lecture program was first organized in 2003 for medical practitioners, specialists, nurses and medical technicians who are beginners or interested in the echocardiography sector. This year marks the 13th event.
This year’s program provides more practical lectures in the first half such as the principle of echocardiography and machine operation, live demonstration of basic echocardiography and doppler echocardiography, and cardiac function test. And in the second half, frequent mistakes by beginners are educated via examples in each type. In addition, special tests are introduced such as strain analysis and stress echocardiography among the precision ultrasound methods. Participants can experience echocardiography for themselves in the hands-on session while discussing more practical issues and problems they face in the clinical field.
