I would like to express my deep appreciation for you great interest in and support for the Korean Society of Echocardiography throughout the year of 2014.
The Society has finally become a globally recognized organization in about 20 years from its inauguration, further enhancing our pride on tis.
The AAE and KSE 2014 in last November were a great success largely thanks to your unsparing support.
Taking this opportunity, I assure you the utmost effort of the Society for the success of itself and the members.
In 2015, we, at the Society, will continue our hard work to contribute to people’s heart health improvement. I ask for your continued interest and support.

KSE News
1. Echo Seoul and Cardiac Imaging 2014 / Sep. 19~21, 2014 / Main Hall, 6F, East Wing of ASAN Medical Center, Seoul, South Korea
The event was successfully held with about 860 echocardiography related participants from home and abroad. The Chief Editor of Heart, Catherine M. Otto delivered an updated guideline. Mr. Gilbert Habib lectured on the infective endocarditis. Mr. Yutaka Otsuji lectured on the fabry disease; Mr. Kengo Kusano, on the cardiac sarcoidosis, Mr. Satoshi Nakatani, on CRT and many others. The event was a great venue to communicate with globally respected experts.
2. The 24th Workshop of Korean Society of Echocardiography / October 11, 2014 / Main Hall, B1, Annex to the Ajou University Hospital
The workshop was organized under two themes of “what is going on in the left heart” and ”role of echo in clinical decision making” to encourage participants to share and discuss experiences rarely seen in the clinical field.
3. Echo Chosun 2014 / Oct. 19, 2014 / 5F, Euiseong-gwan of the Chusun University Hospital
Marking the 10th anniversary of the establishment of Echo Chosun Workshop, the event was organized under the theme of pulmonary hypertension with the presence of Dr. Masaru Hatano. Professor Bang Hun Lee delivered a lecture titled ‘to think about life by looking at the echo’ from a fresh perspective and aroused broad sympathy among the audience working in the echocardiography field
4. The 37th Fall Seminar of Korean Society of Echocardiography & AAE 2014 / Nov. 8~ 9, 2014 / Convention Center, Grand Hilton Hotel, Seoul, South Korea
The seminar is a significant event hosted together with the 2nd Asian-Pacific Association of Echocardiography (AAE) based on many people’s hard work and contribution. Especially, the heads of echocardiography societies in Japan, China, Taiwan, India, the Philippines and Indonesia attended and graced the event. This year, in step with the Club 35, the next-generation young members’ group of the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI), the Club 40 was formed. On behalf of the EACVI’s Club 35, Ms. Julia Grapsa and Mr. Hani Mohamed Mahmoud gave lectures. And representing the KSE Club 40, Mr. Dae-Hee Kim and Ms. Chi Young Shim lectured as well. The English sessions of the event were organized with globally famous experts including Mr. Thomas Marwick’s lecture on heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. The Expert sessions were filled with diverse in-depth research presentations. There was also the “Must for Beginners” session to satisfy from beginners to experts
