Introduction to the Korean Society of Echocardiography (KSE)
The Korean Society of Echocardiography (KSE) is one of the leading organizations in South Korea dedicated to advancing the field of cardiovascular imaging through echocardiography. Since its establishment in 1993, KSE has grown significantly in size and influence, now boasting over 2,000 active members, including cardiologists, emergency physicians, sonographers, and other medical professionals.
The KSE was founded to promote the study and clinical application of echocardiography in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular diseases. Over the years, it has played a pivotal role in integrating advanced imaging techniques into routine clinical practice in South Korea. Its mission includes fostering education, supporting research, and improving patient care through the use of state-of-the-art echocardiographic technologies.
▶ KSE organizes annual scientific meetings and hands-on workshops that attract national and international experts.
▶ It offers certification programs to ensure high standards in echocardiographic practice. (Certification program has been started at 2010, and more than 2,100 medical doctors have been certified.)
▶ KSE has contributed to numerous publications in Journal of Cardiovascular Imaging (JCVI) and collaborated on multi-center research projects.
▶ It established guidelines tailored to the unique healthcare landscape in Korea, contributing to global echocardiographic advancements. Since the first publication of the echocardiography textbook in 2004, preparations are underway for the fifth edition.
▶ KSE actively engages with international societies such as the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) and the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI).
With a strong history and commitment to excellence, the KSE continues to lead advancements in cardiovascular imaging. It serves as a hub for education, research, and collaboration, contributing to improving cardiovascular care worldwide.
